ON FAIR SHARE

Since 2015, UIA, as part of the statewide MCAN network, has been a leader in the Raise UP MA campaign to put the Fair Share Amendment, sometimes referred to as the Millionaire's Tax, on the ballot. In June 2021, the Legislature voted to send it to the 2022 ballot with 70% of legislators voting yes.

If this passes next year, Massachusetts will bring in $2 billion in new revenue by only millionaires paying 4% more on earnings after their first million. This funding will be spent on education (K-12 schools, state colleges, job training, ESOL) and transportation (roads, bridges, and public transit).

The early summer vote was great news, but now we need to lean in further than ever, because we know there will be strong opposition to this from the millionaires, multimillionaires, and billionaires who call the Commonwealth home.

In order to more effectively communicate with you during the next stage of this campaign, we ask you to take one minute to fill out the Digital Pledge Card as this link.
