UIA COVID-19 GIVING LETTER

Greetings,

We pray that you are well. We write to you today to announce the creation of United Interfaith Action’s (UIA) COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund and to urge you to donate and to spread the word to other potential donors in your communities. In response to the increasingly desperate situation caused by the pandemic’s impact in our cities, UIA will be accepting donations to this fund. 100% of your contributions will be used for emergency assistance, dispersed to residents in need in Fall River and New Bedford.

UIA is hoping to raise at least $15,000 from individual donors and grants for emergency response during this pandemic, based on needs we are hearing in our community outreach. UIA has already helped 50 families with groceries through provision of store cards and deliveries of fresh food from places such as Round the Bend Farm, supported 18 families with rent and utility payments, assisted 3 families to secure temporary accommodation while awaiting transition to more permanent housing, and offered support to 6 families with food and diapers, recently displaced from house fires in New Bedford. Requests for rental, utility, and food assistance continue. UIA leaders are also offering home-cooked meals to our own frontline response workers and are helping to provide grocery and basic necessity deliveries to immune-comprised neighbors. We are also connecting individuals and families into community resources and agencies.

Over its history, UIA has worked hard to build the kind of community that sees every person as an integral part of the success of the whole. We know there is more than enough if we share our resources. Amidst this time of uncertainty, we can be assured that we are who we have been waiting for, to help provide healing and hope.
